What is a transparent order?

What is wrong with fast-food restaurants where you can't ensure your order is accurate in the drive-thru without making them angry?

  • You ever been through a drive-thru that is timed and they rush you through? And then half the time they screw up your order. So, if you want to stop wasting gas and trips, you start double checking your order at the window, but then, in turn, the employees spite you for it because you're causing their average drive-thru time to go up. I worked at a fast-food restaurant when I was a teenager and I remember a customer was double-checking his order at the drive-thru window and the manager got pissed off and lost his temper at the customer for taking too long and said "get the f*** out of my drive-thru". I am scared to check my order to make sure it's accurate, because the employees will recognize me as backing them up, and then they'll spit in my food next time or something. It's a huge waste of time and gas when you go home and find out they screwed up, which happens constantly. I shouldn't have to leave the drive-thru at all just to check the order and wait in the long drive-thru line once again when they screw up on something. Are you also uncomfortable double-checking your order because of this? What is wrong with this system?

If you've worked fast food, and I have, you know that you don't have to go through the drive-thru line again. You can park and take your order in and tell them it's wrong. The best way is to just go inside, order it to go, then check it. And managers panic because those time records go to the bigwigs who will send nasty, threatening messages to managers that have high drive-thru times. Also, fast food does not hire as many workers as they used to, say 40 years ago. It is hard to keep up with the orders anymore. It's hard to be accurate. It was easier, eons ago, when people did NOT special order. Now, a worker has to make sure a sandwich has pickles, but no ketchup, and just a "little bit" of mustard. It's gotten so ticky that I'm suprized anyone gets their order right. Also, when you're working fast food it only takes so many rude, demanding customers to put you in a lousy mood. Try keeping your cool when some angry stranger has just thrown thier incorrectly made sandwich at your face. Try keep a smile on your face when you've just been cussed out, over your headset, by a pimply faced teenager. And how about that one fast food place (it was on the news) where some idiots, who apparenty thought fast food workers were of a lower form of life, threw a dead animal through the drive-thru window. So, who do you blame the worker's attitude on? You blame on the rude, nasty, impatient customers.
