What is the best way to get into the horse industry?

Why does the movie industry get way more respect than the video game industry despite how big it is?

  • For some reason people will say video games are a waste of time and money and how you don't get anything usefull from playing games. While at the same time it is socially acceptable to spend hundreds of dollars making movies and watching them. Or buying a film collection. None criticizes the guy who watches movies 3 hours a night. But the guy who plays video games 3 hours a night is seen as wasting time or having no life.

    I don't have an answer, I guess, but you can count me as one guy who does not criticize anyone for playing video games. (And I, myself, am horrible at playing them!) :)

because videogames are still marginalized as "things for children" by the collective social consciousness. a problem which will gradually solve itself as the number of gamers increase, along with the average gamer's age, which is now in the 30's, BTW. as always, public perception is slow on the uptake. it'll get there, though.

A lot of people still think of video games as like Pacman or something. Simple little time wasters. They don't realize how advanced and educational some video games have become. They are definately the equivalent of movies now as far as that goes. Of course, it's not as if they are books or something though.

It's because movies are appreciated by a collective consciousness of the multitudes whereas the games are a personal level of experience that cannot be described amongst a group since each player has a unique experience but as far as quality of time spent I can say I had the best 3 hours of my life playing games and the worst 3 hours of my life watching a movie that critics, etc... said was worthy of watching which to my opinion turned out to be utter drivel.
