What causes some people to be so enthralled with violence? Movies, sports, video games, books? What is the draw? What need does it fill?

Hello Rosie: From an evolutionary standpoint, we're barely out of the jungle. We LOVE violence. It's all around us. Maybe, just maybe, after the world actually does become peaceful, we'll give it up. excon

Primal urge

It probably fills some need or outlet that can be lived vicariously. They think it's cool to see someone get thumped, especially in creative ways, as it does not hurt themselves in the process.

I've always thought that perhaps some of those people have a lot of anger inside them and perhaps even think about doing violent things themselves. Watching others commit violent acts may provide an outlet for them.

Human ignorance and apathy leads to violence!

This trend on tv of shows about murders and murderers is very frightening to me. I would hope that it is not putting ideas in some unbalanced persons' minds and teaching them plots and techniques for murder but I'm sure that it is. It's terrifying!

I do not watch violent movies or shows. no enthrallment. why others like this kick of darkness watched is beyond me.... sports yes I watch sports, because I enjoy it.... I was very sportive and I appreciate the skills shown. no video games here. books always, thousands..... I read about 2 books a week. the draw..... especially now....they take me away from home..... into other places....
