why do people blame video games for violence?

  • I play GTA but i don't kill hookers and steal their money I play call of duty but i don't go on mass killing sprees I play Assassins creed but i dont go around stabbing people I personally think blaming video games is a scapegoat.

  • Answer:

Because they're looking for an easy scapegoat. I think they're AFRAID to face the real problem.

Other answers

It is easier to blame external factors (movies, music, video games, etc) instead of internal factors (mental heath, trauma, emotional issues etc)

One mans opinion

Because it's still new to them and shocking. Their parents probably were shocked at increased violence in films. Same thing.

blaming video games is really a huge thing used to cover up the issues that really should be targeted and discussed. not to mention how it takes 3 weeks to finally get someone to see and hear the facts, is a major distraction for not investing in the tasks that need to be addressed. It's barely a scapegoat at all, and has been used way too much since Judas Priest was attempted to be sued for their music making people bad. In 100 years, maybe all the chemicals in all of society really might make people so dumb as to prosecute for this incorrect and wrong judging, "Dumbing Down Our Children", Charles Sykes.
