How should I write a letter to ask that my job application be reconsidered?
-
I had an interview with a trailer manufacturing company on November 21st 2013 but wasn't selected for the position. The position was "Material Handler" which involves work on a forklift. About a month later I went to a Staffing Agency to try and get into the same place as a temp to hire put for a position in the painting dept. instead. I was told they weren't interested in meeting with again since I was already interviewed a month ago. I then called the Human Resource Manager to ask find out why. She said that the guy that interviewed me doesn't think I have enough qualifications to work there even though I have 3+ years of experience with operating forklifts. I told this to a guy that I know that works there and he recommends that I keep calling. Which I have been doing once a week to let the company know that I am still interested in a position with them. I have been thinking about reapplying to give them updated employment info along with a letter asking that I be reconsidered for a position there. What may have hurt me during the interview is that I wasn't very confident and didn't show enough enthusiasm and interest in the company or position. I would really like a job there but running out of ideas. They are constantly advertising in a couple of news papers and on their company website that they are hiring. Any suggestions on what to do?

Answer:
You "didn't show enough enthusiasm and interest in the company or the position". I hate to tell you this but those are the two WORST mistakes to ever make at a job interview. Forget trying to get a job there...it ain't happening. Learn from this mistake and move on.

TOWEL TO THE RESCUE
If you go through a staffing agency you should never contact the hiring company directly. You have broken protocol by doing that. In the future go through the agency only. If you continue to go around them they will stop trying to help you at all. Apparently the man that you spoke with didn't like you and writing them a letter is again, going around the agency, and making you look way too pushy.
