    I have been in sales for 60 years. It is a mistake to think that there is always a strict formula. The varieties of successful sales are filled with huge variables. For example--not everyone looks alike: therefore in sales there must be used a variety of techniques. Often luck is involved. There are some fundamentals that must always be present. Clean clothes. Good breath. A pleasant smile that must feel natural--not forced. Trying to find out BY LISTENING what it is that the customer wants, and not what you are selling. Giving a person(customer) more than one option is always received well. Selling in the morning always works better that late in the day for a very logical reason: the customer in not tired!! Selling often involves kind of feeling your way along. If resistance is right up front and obvious--back off and try on another day. Never force a sale too aggressively. You will never win them all. track your sales day where you feel there is the least resistance. and lastly do not sell unless you yourself are CONVINCED that what is being offered is something you really like and believe in.
