Is Music not a Performing Art?

The 1969 Woodstock Art and Music Festival was one of the most important events of its time Three solid days of music featuring 31 different performing artists and groups Where was it held?

  • Answer:

Woodstock was named after the town where it was originally planned to be held. The festival, billed as 'An Aquarian Exposition: 3 days of Peace and Music' was held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the Catskill mountains near the hamlet of White Lake in the town of Bethel, New York, in Sullivan County. Bethel, New York is located approximately 43 miles southwest of Woodstock, New York which is in the adjoining Ulster County. The festival officially lasted from August 15 through August 18, 1969. Decades later the site was sold and is today the location for 'The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts' and 'The Museum at Bethel Woods'. The center is still used today for music performances and the museum preserves historical pictures, videos and documentation of musical history in the area.
