Why is there no sound on the TV with the digital converter?

how do I connect older TV to satellite, analog converter box, surround sound, & dvd player?

    just to understand. you have a TV; What brand and model? and from this TV you want to watch: Satellite TV feed DTV w/Analog converter box DVD player and run the sound through some sort of surround sound, stereo receiver device? Well depending on how old your TV is, you may or may not have multiple inputs, so we will need to know what brand/model TV you have. Then the surround sound device, what brand/model is it? Either way you will need to connect your video 'sources' either to your TV using the different inputs, or connect them all to your surround sound receiver device which will then output video to your TV. So, we will need way more info, to be helpful.

TV is a jvc do not know the model, it does have 1 set of "jacks" on the front for 1yellow 1red and 1white; surround sound is a Yamaha HTR-5540 Thank you!!!

great, looks like you have a 'real' home theater receiver rather than one of those combination units with a built-in DVD changer, your home theater unit can run real speakers and supports multiple inputs (5 inputs to be exact). Here is a link to the JVC product page for your home theater receiver. http://usa.yamaha.com/en/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/htr/htr-5540_black__u/?mode=model click on the support tab and then download the product manual for your device, which will describe how to connect your different source devices all to the different inputs on the receiver. then when you want to watch your local DTV feed, you will use the receiver remote to change inputs to match the input of the DTV antenna converter box; and when you want to watch a DVD, you do the same process and change to the DVD input on the receiver. best of luck.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Right now it's a mess, can't use surround sound for regular TV, etc. Appreciate the help.
