Phillips Blu-Ray Player Sound Is Quiet?

we have a phillips flat screen tv and a vizio blue ray dvd player, we want to get a surround sound system, but we do not

  • but we do not know how to connect the surround sound to the flat screen and the blue ray so that the surround sound plays everything like the netflix and you tube and pandora, etc. can anyone help us understand what we need to do?

  • Answer:

well typically all your video sources will connect directly to your "surround sound / home theater" receiver and then when your watching one 'source' or another you will change inputs on the receiver remote so that you can watch and listen to that particular 'source'. do you actually have a home theater receiver already, or are you shopping for one? If you have the receiver already, please provide the exact model info. also, these online programming sources: Pandora, netflix, etc. How are you going to access these services? Does your TV have Internet access and provide "apps" for these services, or do they come through your Blu-Ray player?

and with any of the above receivers, you simply connect the HDMI from your other devices, to the receivers input HDMI ports, and then feed the HDMI output to your TV, and of course wire-up your speakers. and after configuring the individual settings on each device, you should be golden.

There should be a audio out on the tv, like a 3mm headphone jack. I am not sure if your tv has one but you connect that to the surround sound input audio. There are 2 way adapters in case you need to connect a red and white RCA type jack. There could also be a SPDIF cable connection on the tv and the blueray, check that out as well. Any sound that would be on the tv would be sent out to the surround sound via that jack. Good luck.
