What type of sewing machine would I need to sew various patches onto a leather vest?

I have a leather vest and i would like to decorate it with various patches, but I am not a sewer and would like to use a machine to attach them to a vest

How thick is the leather? If it is thin and supple, you might be able to use a machine (going SLOW!) with a sharp needle.

Normally you would use a machine that is made to sew leather but one for cloth should work if you follow what I said above.
