Is Amazon a trustworthy website?

How come Amazon says still have stock of item thru seller, but when you check the seller's website they are out of stock?

  • Does this mean that Amazon has reserved those remaining quantities for their exclusive sale, thus rendering the item out of stock in the actual seller's website...or Amazon is just not updated? I don't want to be purchasing over Amazon only to find out later that no more stock is available.

  • Answer:

We are sellers on Amazon and when we signed up, we were asked how many product did we have in stock (since we do the shipping ourselves) and we put down a large number, knowing we could get more if we ran out of stock on hand. So Amazon simply deducts the number of items we sell through them from the number we told them we had originally. In the meantime, we have run out occasionally and ordered more, which, for us, is only a two day delay. But that is why the seller might list some as sold out temporarily while Amazon still lists them as in stock.
