What are some good Celtic folk songs?

What songs by the Beatles come closest to the sound of British Folk-rock, and British Folk Pop ?

  • I love British Folk music of the 1960s and 1970s, such as Vulcan's Hammer and Steeleye Span -- but honestly the recording's too rough and the music gets irritating. If anyone can suggest Beatles or similar groups whose music was more advanced technically and creatively, and better recorded than average British folk, I'd love to intrersperce my collections with something more advanced, but still British or Celtic and Folksy.

Actually, another group with a celtic sound is the Moody Blues. Here is one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpHIazW3NWA

Thanks! Magical Mystery Tour was the first album I ever bought -- still have the record but no record player. You're right -- EVERYTHING on this album works with British Folk -- Very English sounding, first truly surreal, trippy. Thanks for the Moody Blues, I was unfortunately only familiar with their later works, until now. Thanks!

If you haven't listened to the early Moody Blues you have missed the most fantastic music of the hippie era. More hippies got high to the Moody Blues than any other band...IMHO. Each album was like a symphony...one song goes right into the next. The Moody Blues got burned out after "7th Sojourn" in 1974 and split apart. When they got back together Mike Pinder did not join them. After that their music changed. They were still good but not like before 1974. Look at the early album list in this article and try to find all of those old albums... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Moody_Blues

You can still get some of their albums on CD, this one or Sweet Childe are the best.

Very Celtic, funny I never heard of Pentangle before even though I love this genre of music. Thanks!
