How do I download outlook express on windows 7?

Why doesn't Outlook download e-mail when opening Outlook? Has any one experienced this issue and is there a solution?

  • I have 3 dual-booted computers with 2 SSD's on each with Outlook ( not Outlook Express ) on each for e-mail. One computer with Windows 7 and XP Pro and 1 with Windows 7 and Windows 8 consumer review. Both will download e-mail upon opening Outlook. The third computer with Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista Ultimate will not download e-mail upon opening Outlook but when send and receive is clicked e-mail will download to Outlook. The e-mail settings appear to be the same on all 3 computers.

  • Answer:

According to Microsoft, this is a problem with the Send/Receive group being damaged in some fashion on the XP/Vista machine that is not working the way that you prefer and expect. You can find details and instructions about how to resolve that at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312336 Essentially, just create a new send/receive group, move your email accounts to that new group, delete the old group, and see if that resovles the issue. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions or need clarification on anything in the article.
