Will this count as a Christmas video?
-
Ok so there is a competiton on YouTube to win American Girl Doll Kanani, GOTY 2011, who is retired... -.- anyway, you hae to make a Christmas video, so me and my sister have made a Cinderella pantomime, but it just dawned on me that they don't have pantomime in America... And the competition is judged by an American.. Will she count it as a Christmas video? Pantomimes have always been associated with Christmas for me which is why we did it..

Answer:
I hate to disappoint, but Cinderella is a fairy tale, and no mention of Christmas is anywhere in the story. You had better come up with something more holiday-themed. Good luck!

The rules say 'Christmas'. In the US, pantomimes are not popular, nor Christmasy. You can submit it, but be prepared for other entries that are closer to following the rules to outscore your submission. When entering contests, it is important to follow the rules exactly, because the entries that do not are automatically disqualified--that is why there are rules. Try to come up with something else while you still have time.

I am so sorry. This is not the lesson anybody wanted to learn. Overall, the experience would make a good American Girl story.

We have pantomime in America: <http://www.amargosa-opera-house. com/>. I've been there; it's pretty good.

I'm American and I actually had to look up why it was related to Christmas, I had no idea! (learned something new, actually) I actually just thought about my Drama class when I heard pantomime, so I don't think the average American would get it. Maybe if you explained it when you sent it in. Because now that I know, I think it would be a realy good idea, even if it doesn't really click with me how pantomime and Christmas go together. If the pantomined story was Christmas themed, it definitly would work.

Hmmm... That's a bummer.. I guess she might know, we've put the famouse "he's behind you" "oh no he ist!" "oh yes he is!" thing.. So I guess we can tell her.. And at least well stand out... :P
