Hey people read this?

hey, i'm looking for this book i read in school about people who have this thing done to look like children forever

• it was set in the future and the main character was this boy. he traveled with this guy who wasn't his dad. he was one of the only real children left as most of the other kids had this thing done to them so they looked like a kid forever. i think it might have been an injection to stop their body clock. the man used to hire him out and he would pretend to be peoples kids as people couldn't have kids anymore. he met a girl who looked like a child but it turned out she was like 60 or something.
