Why do people whine about their taxes paying for social welfare like foodstamps and TANF?

Flip, social security is essentially bankrupt and the massive fraud going on in the government hand-out programs should make anyone who pays taxes upset. And Medicaid? If it were so good, you wouldn't need to pay a bunch of supplementary programs at fees which are guaranteed to break the average American.

Must be a habit if they whine abut everything else.

See, you have a right to complain, if you wish. Others though, get back everything they paid in federal taxes and some even get the Earned Income Credit and tax credits for each child they have. TANF stands for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

But, for the most part, I don't complain. I have needed those services in the past and they were a lifeline. What ticks me off, as a taxpayer, is the DOD waste (about 1/2 T dollars/yr), the corporate welfare, the ability for corporations to hide their income so they don't pay taxes and people with fake "disabilities" who scam the system.

I do agree with you. People always like to pick on the weakest in our society while letting the wealthy do whatever they please. I'm well aware that there are scammers and fraudsters who take advantage but the majority of people who use these programs are honest people who truly need them.

Humans complain about anything as your standard-issue attention-getting device. Humans have always complained, but it seems more common now because humans now generally listen less (TV, etc.) and the ones trying to be heard are DESPERATE!

just because you get a tax return does not mean you have not paid income taxes. but people whine because they are under the delusion that the government should be paying THEM for the privilege of having them as citizens.nobody seems to feel the concept of civic responsibility, and everybody thinks someone else is getting a better deal than they are.

I should have said if you get back everything you pay in federal taxes, plus full tax credits. I know people like this, who complain of "people, using my tax dollars".

yes, if you pay no taxes, you have no room to kvetch.
