How do you connect your laptop to your tv via HDMI cable?

Hi, We are unable to connect my laptop to Samsung UE46EH5000 LED TV via HDMI Cable.

The cable am using has VGA port (connected to my pc) and HDMI port (Connecting to TV)

Open the control panel and click on Display. One of the choices should be projector, tv, or remote. Click on that and follow directions. Additionally, the connection is outgoing only from the laptop and "IN" only at the TV.
