How to connect to a wireless internet connection using my PC?

Using a wireless USB adapter to connect PC to internet. Can I connect router to PC and share the connection? How?

  • Answer:

You can do this, although it's a bit difficult to set up. Windows has a feature called Internet Connection Sharing that will do what you describe. A description of the feature can be found in Windows Help or on line here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Using-ICS-Internet-Connection-Sharing. You would set up your router as an access point (if you are wireless through your home). If the computers are wired, all you need is a hub. I assume you are getting Internet service through your wireless provider, i.e., your cellular carrier. You may want to check with them to see if they can provide you with a stand-alone wireless hotspot that will save you the trouble of going through the setup for ICS.
