How can I feel my pulse in my neck?

Why can I feel my pulse in the back and sides of my head very prominently? I was in a car accident (nothing serious) about two months ago and have had a tense neck/headaches lightheadedness ever sense but why can I feel my pulse so strong in my head? Could it be from tense muscles compressing arteri

    Most incidences of a bounding pulse come and go within a few seconds and are not a cause for concern. However since you were just in a car accident you should see a doctor to rule anything out

My first thought is a heart or blood vessel problem, such as an enlarged/dilated aorta (aneurysm) or heart valve abnormality. A cardiac echo would be helpful in determining this if not already done.  If your cardiologist has really given you an extensive workup and subsequent clean bill of health, then another possibility is pulsatile tinnitus.  Thyroid is something that also comes up, but usually it's in association with a fast heart rate.
