How can a shitty one page newspaper article on Google beat my 50 page targeted content site with more backlinks?
-
I am covering the topic about a hundred times more comprehensively and I have dozens of high quality back links where this article has none. Has Google gone completely mad?? Note: All the sites above me are generally BIG organizations with one page on the topic - nevertheless even if they have prestige - shouldn't more content on the actual subject from a small business trump this? What a joke.

Answer:
If it's from an ACTUAL publication such as the New York Times, then you don't have a chance. They spend millions on optimizing their site. While you may think you're doing more work, they're doing 100x more than what you're doing.

On certain sites advertisers or users pay extra for their work to be prominently placed. See if asking the editorial staff is helpful.
