I am planning to visit Himachal in may, however I am clueless as to how should i plan my trip.What are some places I must visit and how should i plan my trip?

I went to Himachal in May last year. I was there for three weeks, but cutting out the 6 days of community work and 6 day walk I did, I spent about 8 days there too.   is the obvious place to go, as it is much bigger than the other cities in the state. It's also pretty good looking and a bit cleaner than and I was happy with spending a night there and spending two half-days walking around, but I did know of about 3-4 days worth of attractions that I didn't see. Mandi is huge, but not as nice to be around as Shimla in my opinion. I wasn't there for long (a few hours at most), so I can't tell you much about what to do. Manali is great, although it's a little small so using it as a base for travel to Kullu and possibly even Mandi, as well as enjoying the sorrounds (Vashisht is good). I'd say you'd need 2-3 days there at an absolute minimum, although you'd want a few more if you really want to explore the area. Kullu is a little smaller and a fair bit less touristy than Manali, so it's probably only worth a day trip from Manali. Dharamshala is probably second only to Shimla in terms of beauty. If the Dalai Lama is in town you can easily spend 4 or 5 days there at a minimum, but otherwise the touristy bit can be done in a day or two. The towns around Dharamshala, namely Kangra and Chamunda Ji, are being developed fairly heavily at the moment so in a few years time the area should be much better. Joginder Nagar is a great overnight stop with a few shops, restaurants and a decent hotel, but there's nothing there that you can't find in other towns. Have fun!

Triund Dharamshala is best Destination for tracking root. Shikari Devi Temple Mandi these Destination is unforgeable place for tracking.

Day 1- Delhi Airport- Shimla, hill station in himachal  by private car, journey time 8 hrs Day3 -Leave for Manali, Himachal Pradesh, journey time 7 hrs by  private car. Day 5 -Leave for Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, journey time 6 hrs by private car. Day7- Leave for Amritsar Airport, journey time 4 hrs by private car. Take a flight back to your hometown.

There are many places out there , depends on you what sort of place you want to visit. For wild natural beauty try Renuka ji , for a peaceful hill town you can go for Dharamshala, Shimla etc... if you are a religous streak go for Jwala ji and Kangra..

There are some really gorgeous places in Himachal that you can choose for a visit.
