At Forbes 30 under 30 2014 Sean Rad mentions "wouldn't it be great if we could swipe everyone in this room with a little information on their card". In 2015 Tinder did indeed make this for the 30 under 30 conference which was a big announcement in the news but I haven't been able to find more information about whether it was a success or not. The fast is that being on Tinder is a statement and the product is heavily linked with dating. It is currently not acceptable to be on the app when you are in a relationship. (I have friends that have been in serious problems because they were spotted on Tinder while they had a girlfriend). This limits the potential of the platform outside dating, in order to do that it would have to change the perception of people around what Tinder stands for. This is very very hard, and although Tinder has been trying to do this (notice how on http://www.tinder.com they focus on much more than just dating) I don't think they will be able to do dating AND meeting friends AND meeting business contacts in one app. And even if this would be possible it is not in the best interest of the majority shareholder of Tinder, http://match.com being a dating company that wants to stick to what they know and that is the monetization of dating platforms through premium features. Which is exactly what they are currently doing to Tinder. Therefore, it is much more likely for a new player to success that focuses on business networking. The following players are currently in the market. www.wildcard.works is a tinder-style app based on Twitter which focused on events. However, the company doesn't have much traction except for an article on The Next Web. http://shapr.netraised a big investment of $3 million in January and focuses on "Business Networking". I'm not sure what their next steps are and personally I don't think there app looks impressive. http://Weave.in is a tinder-style local professional networking app that is based on LinkedIn. The app has an okay user base in the US but is rarely used in Europe. It has been quite around the company for a while now and based on changes to their website it seems they are focussing on their new service called https://concierge.weave.in/. http://getgrip.iois a tinder-style networking tool to meet interesting professionals of which I'm co-founder and CEO. On Grip you can join communities and swipe through fellow members in a tinder-style way.  We are working with large organizations such as http://slush.org, http://techbbq.dk/, and the http://weforum.org to help their attendees network before, during and after the event. Users also start their own communities which include "Berlin Startups", "Los Angeles Co-Founder" and more then 150 others.
