How do I generate clout for my open source project?

• I created a jquery project : Defodio(earlier known as shift) and would like people to use the plugin and share suggestions and code and make this happening. I am at a loss of words to clearly explain what this does. If you have elements that you want to arrange inside a container (shift a bunch of them to the top, left, right or bottom, or center some elements perfectly or space element out evenly), this plugin can help you do that.   I have a question: why do you think developers will want this? From your description, I know I can do the same thing myself. I can spend a little time with CSS, maybe look up a few things on Stack Overflow, and basically align my elements most any way I want. Once you get the hang of it and have many of the CSS properties memorized, you can breeze through positioning simple elements. What you need to do is clearly tell me why I need this plugin. When I first read your description I thought, "Hey, I can do all that myself. Why should I bother learning how to use a new plugin when I already know basic CSS?" You need to answer that question whenever you present some plugin, otherwise most of your target audience won't know why they need it.
