Rubik's Cube Silicone Spray Lubricant?

Is there an alternative lubricant other than Silicone spray to lube the cube?

  • i have a funskool cube, i generally use Vaseline but after a couple of days it loses all the smoothness. Please suggest an alternative solution

    I recommend buying a DaYan . It has a much smoother rotation and requires less maintenence . I agree the hefty price aspect of it though . But it surely is worth it.

First of all, like all other answers stated, including the one from the great speedcuber Bhargav Narasimhan, you should prefer to get a new cube. I would prefer Moyu Weilong or a Dayan Zhanchi of you are not bound by economic factors. If you are, but the ShengShou 3x3. It comes at a much lower cost, with almost equal efficiency. These cubes need much less maintenance and move at twice the speed of a normal Funskool Cube. Now coming back to your question on which lube to use as an alternative, I would say that the Maru Lube works awesome! It is cheap, last long, and does what you want it to do! If you can't get that, then use any hair lotion. All work well. But refrain yourself from using Vaseline as it will corrode your cube!!! Get a Weilong or an aolong if you really want to improve your times. If you're just doing it for fun, Vaseline should do. You can use Livon hair potion as an alternative but I would recommend you to get a better cube before you do.

You can use maru lube. But get a speed cube like the moyu or dayan cubes.You wouldnt have to worry about speed then.Happy Cubing!
