Union Public Service Commission (India): What is the significance of the coaching notes for a specific subject?

• Coaching notes are made by the teachers of the coaching institutes. These notes are from some standard book(s) of the subject. After the change in the pattern of the CSE exams there is more emphasis on the analytic/dynamic aspect of a concept. What according to you is the significance of these coaching notes, when you yourself have not made them? Notes for any of the subject are made by a student when he has read any popular book for the subject and notes made by him is "gist of the books", apt for revision during the exam time. Skipping directly to the notes without reading the text from a book, wont be of much use. What do you say?

  Go through it and if you feel you can understand the subject, use them. Else find which you are comfortable with. Means is not really important. The ends or whether you have understood the concept, subject is important.
