Answer:
If this happens, and I hope with all my heart that it does, it will be the best thing ever. Guillermo del Toro has already expressed his love for the Japanese culture and would be the best candidate to go ahead with the series in my opinion. He said, ââMonsterâ is almost like Chekhovian, it has all these little characters that are incredibly smart and delineated. Each of them has an arc and if you follow all of them, at the end of the last book you will be satisfied.â, which indicates he wants to the series to be true to the manga which is awesome. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2014/08/14/guillermo-del-toro-mentions-monster-adaptation-in-sugoi-japan-endorsement The cast for this particular series would be very hard to decide considering that every character has an intense personality. This would be my choice: Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Dr. Kenzou Tenma Yes, I prefer him over Keanu Reeves. Jennifer Connelly as Nina Fortner/Anna Liebert Woody Harrelson as Inspector Heinrich Lunge After watching his role in True Detective as Martin Hart, I think he could really pull this off. Lunge often disregards his family in order to solve the case which I found very similar in Harrelson's role in True Detective. Margot Robbie as Eva Heinemann And probably Christian Bale as Franz Bonaparta. I seriously could not think of anyone for the role of Johan Liebert. Any suggestions are welcome. I know it's a start-studded cast but if I had my way, this would be my dream cast.

HBO should consider to use an entire German/ Austrian cast (with the exception of Tenma, who should be Japanese, of course). Christoph Waltz could be Inspector Lunge and Diane Kruger would fit Eva Heinemann. The rest of the cast doesn't need to be famous in the US. Germans should talk German with each other, English would be the lingua franca between Tenma and the locals. People who consider Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Keanu Reeves for a Japanese role, haven't seen one Japanese person in their life.
