How hard is an art director's job?

How does one find a job as an art therapist?

  • In the U.K., an organisation called BAAT (British Association of Art Therapists) hosts a job advertisement board that can only be accessed once you're a qualified Art Therapist. Also, a quick search on NHS jobs website and there's only one posting for a Band 7 Art Therapist. Searches on regular job boards, such as indeed or reed recruitment, and there's still nothing or one or two job postings. So, are there jobs out there for newly-qualified art therapists? Or are you expected to be more entrepreneurial about job-hunting and set up your own business?

    I am not sure as far as the UK goes, but I know US has something similar with AATA (http://www.arttherapy.org).  They have a job board as well that you need to be a member to access.  I guess just keep looking, Art Therapist isn't necessarily a common job title.  Try broadening your search, many art therapists fall under a different title such as therapist (who uses are therapy).

I dont know about england but out in united states, mental hospitals and state facilities hire art therapists. have you look at those? Also, maybe see if you can get in with your other qualifications (sometimes it is just a mattter of gettingin, and once you network, you can get to what you want to be doing)
