What is the best way to success in life?

Is there a relation the way people drive on road and the level of success they achieve in their personal/professional life?

  • Any personal experience or aware of any research? I see so many people driving fast, breaking signal, driving opposite side of lane, unnecessary honking etc. Sometimes I feel, that as they are so inconsiderate/desperate while driving, they might be inconsiderate/desperate in other aspect of life as well. Sometimes I feel everyone is stupid/shallow/inconsiderate in some aspect of life, it is not that being stupid in one (like driving), means that you are stupid in others. I understand it is a very vague topic and it is very difficult to come up with metrics to measure success in personal and professional life. I have put this question under topic "Driving". Let me know if there is more suitable topic.

"In seven separate studies conducted on the UC Berkeley campus, in the San Francisco Bay Area and nationwide, UC Berkeley researchers consistently found that upper-class participants were more likely to lie and cheat when gambling or negotiating; cut people off when driving, and endorse unethical behavior in the workplace. “The increased unethical tendencies of upper-class individuals are driven, in part, by their more favorable attitudes toward greed,” said Paul Piff, a doctoral student in psychology at UC Berkeley and lead author of the paper published today (Monday, Feb. 27) in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences." ... "To investigate how class relates to ethical conduct, the researchers surveyed the ethical tendencies of more than 1,000 individuals of lower-, middle- and upper-class backgrounds. Volunteers reported their social class using the MacArthur Scale of Subjective Socioeconomic Status and filled out surveys revealing their attitudes about unprincipled behaviors and greed. They also took part in tasks designed to measure their actual unethical behavior. "In two field studies on driving behavior, upper-class motorists were found to be four times more likely than the other drivers to cut off other vehicles at a busy four-way intersection and three times more likely to cut off a pedestrian waiting to enter a crosswalk." http://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2012/02/27/greed/

A very interesting question indeed. I may not be totally right, but I will try to make use of best of my knowledge. The style of driving may not have an effect on a person's personal or professional life but it shows the level of decision-making skills of the person. Driving on a road is purely decision-making as you have to decide every thing such as speed, side/lane, overtake etc. When you face a sudden situation like a child coming on the middle of road or another vehicle accidently coming in your way and in both the case the situation is not normal and now only your decision-making skills can help you out. These are the same skills that a person requires or uses in personal or professional life. Now, Driving on a busy road and manging your driving decisions effectively may improve your other skills like concentration or risk-taking abilities in personal or professional life. P.S: sorry for my bad english & grammar.
