I suggest you NOT to do that!See the spec, it wouldn't stand a chance to run Android. Dual core and 512 RAM? It will be frozen running Android Lollipop! The good performance and long battery life in Lumia 720 is achieved because it runs Windows Phone. There are many evidence about it. For example: HTC One M8 has two version: Android and Windows Phone. The One that runs Windows Phone has longer battery life and smoother performance. Conclusion: It's not about the spec, but the OS. Android is resource hunger, the greater the spec, the better it runs. If you want to get mid-range Android which suits your qualification, I think Lenovo 6000 plus or Lenovo 7000 are the one you needed.

No,it is not possible to root Windows Phone devices. The OS mentioned in the blog is Windows Mobile OS not Windows Phone. It was possible to root and install android in Windows Mobile device but it's successor Windows Phone 7.x and 8.x doesn't allow android or any other OS to be installed on its hardware.

Honestly the advantages you refer to in regards to the Lumia 720 would disappear if you switch to Android. In general all these phones are using the same hardware in reference to processors (my Nolia 920 uses a Snapdragon dual-core which is popular with several Android devices). That said there are significant other hardware devices such as the camera and GPS modules that are unique to the Windows device that simply wouldn't work with any available firmware for any Android fork since they haven't ever used these pieces of hardware (if there is no reason to create a driver it isn't going to exist) which means that the user would have to write their own driver. The biggest advantage that Windows Phone has over Android is the almost Apple-like level of control they have over the entire platform. While there are a very few non-Microsoft forks of Windows phone such as HTC and Blu (a very good fork by the way if you are looking for uncompromising performance at a very reasonable price, my spouse has the Blu HD and it is stunningly good). As for running Android apps, my understanding is this . . . Microsoft is investing in an emulator, it already works in Windows 10 on tablets. Windows 10 Mobile is still in Preview but scheduled for release next month. That release may, or may not, have the emulator available (far as I know it doesn't so far as I am running the preview). That said I avoid Android apps like the plague, many are responsible for the poor battery life you mention in addition to resulting in unpredictable behavior. I can't see any reason, having moved to the Windows Phone OS that I could go back to Android. No app I ever had was worth giving up the trouble free and fluid experience I have on a Windows Phone, the only phone that comes close is iPhone and I can buy three of mine for the price of one of theirs and get a better camera to boot. Since the camera is my sole non-communication concern on the phone there simply isn't a better alternative to the Windows platform for a user like me. You have to decide what is important to YOU and follow that guide as any compromise will result in disaffection with your choice. If you want Android apps then getting any other device will ruin your life . . . at least for now.

A simple and straight answer - No, you can't. It can only run Windows Phone OS as smooth as a butter. And even if u want to run the latest Windows 10 on this device, you can run that also using the dev insider program. But you can't run Android on this phone.

sorry to say but you cannot.this is easy to elaborate but it surely doesn't relates to the specifications, rather, it is due to the architecture of the chipset that supports either android, windows or both. the android devices works on arm(X) architecture. if the phone you want to run android on, is on arm architecture, you are good to go, otherwise not.the only nokia phone that i came to know can run android too (not considering nokia android phones) is nokia N9.Mi has launched Xiaomi Redmi 3 recently, and is planning to launch Mi 5 also, i think it will suit you perfectly. LG has launched K series devices, K7 and K10, HTC is also competing other companies by launching Desire 728G and Desire 828. Motorola is also its way up to the race with Moto X play with a stunning 21 MP camera, that is really a great grab. And for scratch resistant display, i would suggest to buy a tempered glass protection for your phone to keep it new forever.for more android tips and news, visit http://i-softs.blogspot.com/

Well, Microsoft has been planning on Introducing android emulator on windows phone. But its not yet final. May be the decision is on review since android emulator may steal the identity of windows phones. They are trying hard to bridge the gap between android play store and windows phone store. As on today, most of the useful & important android apps can be found in windows phone store. But yeah, there is a gap. You could wait for windows phone 10, the features of which may blow your mind. It may also be possible that they introduce android emulator through which you can install any android app with the help of .apk file. But if its irresistible to be without a phone till the launch of windows phone 10, You may consider buying YuYureka which fulfills all your demand + it has many extra features that the user likes too much. The phone is highly customizable with a high tech hardware such as 64bit Cyanogen OS. 2GBs of RAM. Octa core processor. Pretty good 13 MP camera. 5MP front camera as well. Corning gorilla glass 3. 5.5" phone. The phone is priced at 8999/- The only issue is that its available only through Amazon Website on thursday at 2 'o'clock. The time of sale is usually 02:00:00 pm - 02:00:03 pm. Id Est, just for 3 seconds. So you may require a high speed internet connection with a dedicated time of half an hour. Other options available: Xiaomi MI4 Xiaomi Note 4G Micromax Nitro Lenovo Vibe X2 Huawei Honor 6 These pieces are my favourites when we compare the specs with the price in which they are serving the phone. Hope it helps! All the best.

As far Microsoft has informed us, there is no provision of running android apps or android os on lumia 720. There was a bug in an intermediate build of windows 10 mobile which allows to install android app but microsoft has already resolved it. So if you have planned to install android apps on Lumia 720 then stop here. For mid range android device with good battery life and gorilla display , you can check out Motorola G 3rd edition or Moto G Turbo Edition or Moto X play. They are good devices having good camera and good performance. One suggestion to you, always buy a device having atleast 2 gb ram and 8gb internal memory. If you can afford then you can check fr nexus also.

It is not at all possible. As many of them said here, you will loose all advantage if you use android on Lumia 720. You could wait for windows phone 10, the features of which may blow your mind. It may also be possible that they introduce android emulator through which you can install any android app with the help of .apk file.Once I tried running Android in my Lumia 720, The Android OS was installed in the Nokia Lumia 720 with the help of Android Port and a Micro SD card but after installing it I found that phone was hanging a lot and was not able to perform even normal job.
