The Mentalist (TV series): Why didn't patrick jane hypnotize lorelei or any associate of red john to find his identity?

Hypnotism doesn't work on everyone, I'm sure even Jane said that at some point. It is most effective against weak-minded people and least effective against strong minded ones. Now whilst the followers of Red John may seem influenced if not controlled by him, they appear to be relatively individualist entities whilst under scrutiny, so its probably gonna be hard for Jane to hypnotize them. Not to mention the fact that Jane still relies on the resources of CBI to help him with his mission and CBI would never tolerate the use of hypnotism as a legit interogation method.

It's very unlikely that someone so close to red john may be hypnotised so easily without her will. Lorelei seemed very strong willed plus patrick didn't want anything to happen to lorelei.. Yes he did want to help her even though she blurted out that red john had shaken hands with jane. The moment red john knew about lorelei being hypnotised..He would've killed her then and there. Plus jane wants to catch red john with cunning and planning and deceit..Not a full on desperate attack

Red John had sources inside CBI and FBI. If Jane would have hypotize Red John allies, they would have been killed, which Jane didn't wanted to do.
