How can a BluRay disc be shared to my Xbox 360 from my Windows 8 PC without Windows Media Center?
-
As Windows 8 ships without any DVD/BluRay support and without Media Center (whicj cannot read Blue Ray), I've to use third party software like VLC. Perfect locally, but I wish to share my DVD/Blue Ray player on my Xbox to watch on the big screen in my living room the movie. My computer is not in the same room as the console/TV, but everything is wired on my network. I've also a Synology NAS if it help. Thanks for any tips and ideas.

Answer:
Media Centre is capable of transmitting media files and not data from Blu-Ray discs and DVDs. Even if you install Media Centre it won't be able to access your CD drive from your XBOX. However if you encode it into a file that is compatible with XBOX you can share it via the Media Centre by including all of your movie folders in your media library. The easiest thing to do is to watch Blu Ray or DVDs by inserting them into the XBOX itself. Sorry, I don't think there is an answer that suits the exact thing you need. I know that the Pro with Media Centre pack is pricey. You'll have to do it the traditional way. Oh! By the way, I suppose if you make the XBOX connect to your PC instead of the Media Centre on your PC, you'll be able to access files in your media library. It'll not be all flashy like the media centre but will do the job just fine...

How to make Xbox One support Blu-ray Movies easily ? The most favorable way is to rip Blu-rays to mp4 for playing, sharing on Xbox One or others widely. Here we highly recommend [Pavtube BDMagic](http://www.multipelife.com/bdmagic), which is a yet professional Blu-ray Ripping software. With it you can easily convert Blu-ray movies to MKV, AVI, WMV, MOV, etc HD media formats.

Being different from Sony's PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 can not be used as a Blu-ray player, even an external BD drive is not supported as well. If you think it is unreasonable to eat up most or all of that 12GB or 8GB space with Blu-rays, you can rip the Blu-ray to your computer with this http://www.brorsoft.cn/blu-ray-ripper-mac/, and then you can stream them over to your Xbox console, by managing t hrough Media Center Extender (MCE) via a home network to Xbox. http://takeadvantageofdevice.over-blog.com/play-bd-dvd-video-with-xboxone-xbox360
