How does one become a SAP professional?

I want to become SAP BI consultant .What are the credentials that I should have as a fresher to become one?

  • I have done my MS in IT and I am also an OCP. I want to know the details about the things that I can do to get into the direction of becoming SAP BI consultant.

  • Answer:

You must have a bachelor's degree and a penchant for technology and software. Since, you are MS and and OCP, you are already well versed with how databases work. All you need to do is to find a company that will provide you a training in SAP BI or do some self study to get basic BI certification that will make your resumeĀ  preferred for some BI roles. For BI hands on, install IDES on your local machine. http://scn.sap.com/thread/1840070

Other answers

I agree with Amiya. But i suggest as a fresher you should try to look forĀ  a company that has implementing BI and has already implemented BI module. A course simple wont help get into this techno-functional career. It requires more than Databases knowledge. Secondly, companies wont hire you if you're fresher and have even certification of BI because SAP demands practical experience and atleast one live project experience.

I found some interesting insights from an actual SAP BI consultant here: http://sap-certification.info/how-to-become-a-sap-bi-consultant/. In short, he recommends to join a consulting firm right after the graduation. Even if this job will not pay much, it will give you valuable experience.
