How long does it take to get an I.D. card?

How can I get my voter id card made? I stay away from my native place and so don't have necessary documents with me like ration card and various other proofs which are there in a general house. can i get it made online? How long it take?

  First, You need to have your name enrolled in your area's voter list and hence can't vote without a voter card being made.   If you don't have an address proof in your name you can still vote. The address proof document is required for the BLO (Booth Level Officer) to come and verify your residence status. Therefore, it is not essential for the address proof document to have your name, but needs to have only the address of the place you are staying at. You can use address proof document on the name of your parents, relatives, friends etc. with whom you are staying. During address verification, the person whose name appears on the address proof document needs to confirm that you are staying at the same address. Yes the form can be filled online by logging on to the site of your State's CEO(Chief Electoral Officer). Apart from filling the registration form  you will need to submit:  â€¢ An Address Proof document. This document is required for the BLO (Booth Level Officer) to come and verify your residence status. It is therefore not essential for the address proof document to have your name. It needs to have only the address of the place where you are staying.
