Why doesn't Facebook pay content creators & page admins? After all they are the real force compelling people to use Facebook. Why don't they launch a program like Google AdSense ?

Answer:
Here are my thoughts:Content creators and page admins on Facebook manage their page because they want to create awareness for their business, increase their fan following, engage with them, and drive traffic to the site etc. It wouldn't make sense to show Ads on a fan page's timeline for several reasons. 1) Users are already being shown ads on the news feed, it would be disruptive for them to see ads on a page's timeline as they are specifically there to get to know the brand. On news feed users are generally just consuming content waiting to click on things they find interesting. 2) It's not fair to the brand, imagine if someone came to your page's timeline browsing your content and all of a sudden they see an Ad and leave your page. Would you like that? As far as Google Adsense is concerned, Ads are being shown on a blog site's Ad space. The website owner earns when someone clicks an Ad on their site. That's not quite the case on Facebook. Unless Facebook redesigns the timeline in a way that is beneficial for content creators, page admins and users it wouldn't be a good idea, at least not yet. I am an advanced Facebook Advertiser and have created hundreds of campaigns with all different kinds of Ad objective.

There is a difference between Facebook and Google. Whatever is in Facebook (pages, groups, etc) is already owned by Facebook. Why should they pay for something they already own? On the other hand, Google does not own the sites where they place ads on, therefore to encourage site owners to place Adsense ads on their sites, Google needs to pay them.

Because they have the extensive user base with minute level targeting. They have the power to ask for money to reach them. You can stop producing content - millions others would continue doing so. It is called social networking site for a reason.Given the easy access to targeted users, facebook is earning money from its own ad network and since everyone is getting social pleasure they have no reason to pay users to be active.Hope this helps.
