I think social media is an excellent way to leverage those relationships! Channels such as Linkedin or Google Plus are great places to place creative content. The best thing about Linkedin, in my opinion, is that you can publish articles directly onto the pulse. If you publish good content, and use the right tags, it is sure to be seen by potential B2B partners. I am a big believer of content marketing.
