What is it like to work as an analyst at American Express, Gurgaon (India) office?

• I have recently been hired for the position of a management trainee at Risk and Information Management - Centre of Excellence (RIM-CoE) at the Gurgaon (India) office of American Express, and thus I would like to know about the growth opportunities (monetary and intellectual) and work life balance etc., in the company.

  Let me first congratulate you on making it through the interview. American Express is definitely a good brand and helps your career immensely. Amex is a great place to work especially in terms of the quality of work that is done and the work-life balance. They take care of their employees well. The quality of work is top notch and though the quality may differ from team to team, it is a challenging work place. In terms of career prospects, the promotions happen more or less in a time span of abt 2 years and the raise is pretty satisfactory. One thing which some people might not like is that it is a formal workplace, you have to dress up well, follow professional etiquettes and network well with other people for day to day work. It does not have a Google/tech startup kind of culture. But then, I think that is the case with most financial firms. P.S. I have been working in the same division for the past 2 years.
