What is a good alternative to android webDriver (Selenium)?

I'd like to use something like selenium to scrape data from dynamically loaded webpages in my android app. I hope one day to deploy my app to the google play store, but after reading about selenium, it seems like it only runs when you have the server app running on your device (which is not ideal). Does anyone know of any alternatives?
