Tata DoCoMo: Can i get number portability between different sim cards(India)?

  • My phone was stolen which had a Vodafone SIM. I got a new Tata Docomo SIM. I want to transfer old Voda number to new sim. Is it possible? If so,what is the procedure?Any help would be much appreciated,thanks :)

  • Answer:

    First you have to submit a report to respective police station about your stolen sim card or cell phone. And a copy of that report will be submitted to your sim card providers office with your identity documents and photographs. Now they will deactivate your old sim and ask you to fill the form for the new sim with same number. At the same time you can fill the form for number portability. this will take upto 10-15 daye to complete the procedure as its the case of stolen sim card.

You can get the same number. Go to any Vodafone store and ask for a replacement soon. They charge a nominal fee (deducted from balance) and give you a new sim with old number. It will not affect your Docomo number so you can later do the portability process by going to Tata Docomo store if you want to switch from Vodafone (suggestion: don't do that as Docomo is much slower than Vodafone). They would give you another sim using the Vodafone number. Your earlier Docomo sim stays as it is.
