Are high resolution screens easier on the eyes than laptop screens?

What's the best way to use a laptop in the sun or on a beach?

• I'd like to be able to view the screen and protect it from the heat of the sun, taking in the atmosphere of a tropical place or beach but at the same time being (very) productive.  Maybe there is some clever mechanical clip on to the laptop that shields it from direct sunlight (the heat and the light).  Or maybe some kind of small umbrella to shield out the majority of the light.  Maybe there are particular laptop screens or tablet screens known specifically to be quite viewable while in the sun.  Or how about immersive goggles that shield out the majority of external light and present a high resolution display? Maybe the ambient light from the environment typically will make someone squint and the light of a screen can't compete in contrast (due to the nonlinearity of light intensity) but somehow an iPad screen can be shielded from that light and placed not too far away.  Not as elegant as goggles, but I think that the general problem is clear which is that a laptop is hard to see in the light, and goggles are either too expensive, too bulky or incompatible, not enough resolution, or a temporary trend that might not have ongoing support or traction.
