Can I send an item like a Hookah via courier anywhere in India?

I'd like to understand if it's allowed (as per Indian Laws) to send an item like Hookah, Sheesha or Chillum via the common courier services. One of my friends likes collecting such exquisite items, but lives at a location where stuff like this is unavailable. I'd be sending him a parcel via the popular courier services. Based on my reasoning, these items are just collectibles made of plastic, metal or clay - and that doesn't seem like a problem to me. What do you say?
Answer:

The Indian Posts Act prohibits mailing of indecent material and in some situations, newspapers. If hookah/chillam is just being mailed for collection purpose and you are mailing a single item, it should not be a problem. Of course, sending such items in bulk, might attract penal provisions of various trade laws in India. Thankx for the A2A

Its completely legal to sell/ purchase hookah, bong etc in India. Just make sure there isn't "stuff" left on it. Even though in certain parts of the country(Tamil Nadu and Maharastra) hookah parlours are banned, the ban relates to public smoking of hookah and not to the instrument itself.
