If 2 billion people from 4.7 billion who don't use internet are given a desktop/laptop and internet connection, what changes would occur to Internet Industry?
-
2.3 billion use Internet.
-
Answer:
couple of possibilities, depending on the location of these 2 b people a) larger internet cost due to clogging of resources. (if we do not have the resources for an extra 2 b users) b) subsidized internet for everybody because larger customer base (if our existing infrastructure can handle it) Either ways, it would lead to a zillion more PhD theses in the broad field. And a ton of research money spent. Many more innovative concept startups like Facebook, Quora etc. And if these 2b people are outside US, maybe a ton more bay areas around the planet ;)
