International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H): How does one feel when they get placed in a core ECE company?
-
Considering almost half of the electronics people get placed in CSE companies, how does a student feel if he/she gets a core job, is it a jubilant feeling that justifies the 4 years of electronics study or is it more of a resentment that he/she didn't land up with a high paying and supposedly better CSE job.

Answer:
In my case I would like to say, Yes, it is a very jubilant feeling to get placed in a core ECE company. If you have no other plan in hand (like a start-up or Higher studies), working in a core ECE company is best output you can get from IIIT-H after taking ECE/D branch (If you sincerely love electronics. ). If you are already regretting that you got ECE/D instead of CSE/D then it is a different thing. The feeling is great when you start using the electronics knowledge you acquired over 4-5 years in IIIT-H at your workplace, and believe it or not the EC curriculum of IIIT-H is very well suited for industrial needs. It feels like whatever you learned in college is finally paying you off. Regarding highly paying and supposedly better CSE job, it depends on you. If you love what you do then that job is best for you. Money plays no role here. I have no resentment that I didn't land up in any CSE company ( I tried for them :P ). I am now happy that I am not placed in any CSE company. I don't like programming at all, So even if they pay me a fortune, I can't perform well there. The place where I am working now is a core ECE company. The task assigned to me fully use my capabilities and there is lot to learn. And as I said earlier I love what I do and hence there is no pressure or frustration in doing it. So In short my answer to this question is :- It is a very jubilant and wonderful feeling to get placed in core ECE job if you sincerely love electronics. There is no resentment at all and my job also justifies all the 5 years I spent in IIIT-H. If you are in IIIT-H just for getting a highly paid job then learn programming and go ahead for CSE companies. In my opinion I am doing a sufficiently paying job, if not a very highly paid job. But what is more important is, I am happy. In the end it is happiness that matters ( Lot of JV touch here. Sorry for that :P ) I would like to quote Confucius here "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life" [P.S. :- Please don't fry me over my grammar and English. It is not my mother tongue, so I may fail in creating something flawless in English ]
