Is there any way to speed up torrent download?

I wanted to know about any possible way of splitting torrent files while downloading into segments so as to increase speed because my connection while downloading with idm(internet download manager) gives speeds of 2MBps (as idm uses file splitting) but torrent files give very slow speeds irrespecti

  You can't split a torrent,sorry.You can download select files on one machine and select files on another assuming you have 2 connections. Always look for torrents with high number of seeds and leechers.Also the ratio of leechers to seeds should be between 0.6- 1.Open your ports.Allow the torrent client in firefox.Use a client that suits you.I use an old version of bitlord/bittornado.Utorrent seems slow for me.
