Is it normal to ask someone to write a letter of recommendation before they retire, even though you don't need one now?
-
I am a postdoc, and one of the professors I closely work with is retiring very soon. Is it normal to ask her for a rec before she retires, even though I am not looking for a different place right now?
-
Answer:
As far as I know, even if the person is retired, you can still take recommendation from him/her, provided there is not too much of gap between his/her retirement and the time when he is writing the recommendation
