Adobe Illustrator: I have two different layers and am trying to create a mask using text. How can I do this?
-
I have two groups that I am working with. The first group has about 18 layers. The second group is just text. The text is above the first group. I am trying to make the text be removed from the below layer so that the background will show through. Do I need to expand my typography before I am able to create this mask? What are your thoughts?

Answer:
I don't have the design in hand but I would : - group the background objects - display the text over it on the same layer - vectorize text - select it with the background group (with the vectorized text being upfront) - create a mask
