What are cheap universities in Singapore?

What kind of research opportunities exist for a student holding integrated dual degree with decent GPA in CSE from IIT R in universities abroad (USA/Europe/Singapore)?

  • Are there research positions in universities which may accept dual degree students for a period of about 1 year before he joins a PhD programme in one of his dream universities. Do professors accept students with this profile to work under them. No work experience (fresh graduate) and of course would require financial support.

  • Answer:

I had explored this possibility for universities in US. If you have already graduated, most of the profs you contact, if they respond, will ask you to apply to their graduate program.  In most of the cases, they will not want to invest time and energy on a student who is unsure of a long-term commitment. However, if your profile is good enough, a prof may agree to keep you as a research associate thinking you of as a potential Phd candidate. This should be not as difficult in Singapore as it is in the states. I have seen people going to summer internships in US/Europe after their final year for 3-4 months. If that works, you can ask for an extension once you reach there. The best way to know is to look for matching research interests and apply. Good luck!
