How did the Schuylkill Canal go from the left side of the river going north to the right side of the river at Leesport Pennsylvania.?

Answer:
The Schuylkill Canal is actually the Schuylkill Navigation System. It crosses from the right to left sides of the river at various locations. There was a crib dam below Leesport, which provided a depth of water on which the barges could float. Barges were pulled by mules, going North, to the Kutztown Road (Wall St) and then passed to the East side of the River, back down the Schuylkill to enter the canal on the East side.
