How to Erase a Recordable CD

  • Answer:

Recordable CDs, also called CD-RWs, are a great way to store digital information from a computer in a convenient, portable format using the tools built into any operating system. If you ever need to take the information off of them and put new information on, CD-RWs make it easier than you'd think. In fact, you can erase an entire CD's worth of information from a CD-RW in a matter of seconds. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Insert the CD you wish to erase into your computer's CD drive. Open "My Computer," and locate your CD drive. Double-click on it. Locate the "Erase the CD-RW" button in the task bar at the top of the window and click on it. Allow the computer time to erase everything from the CD, after which you can eject the CD, now blank. Tips & Warnings Warning: You can only erase CD-RW discs, not CD-R discs.
