How recent is "recent"? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fable_III was developed by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lionhead_Studios and released in 2010 to some acclaim. Also, the game itself is pretty damn British -- it takes place in the Kingdom of Albion and John Cleese, Simon Pegg and Ben Kingsley (among others) provide voicework.

Shpgun 2 is also their best game in many years, and has been lauded by basically everyone. Even more recently, since that's a plus here, its http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_War:_Shogun_2#Fall_of_the_Samurai_Expansion expandalone (marketed as an expansion to Shogun 2, but does not require the original game in any respect) was released March 23, 2012 and has been extremely well received.

Codemasters' best output is their racing games, so that means Dirt 3 or F1 2011. Racing games are not everyone's cup of tea though. Fable 3 is very British, but it's also not very good IMO. The Kinect Sports games are made by Rareware. Ninja Theory made Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, which didn't get enough coverage, but I really liked. Sniper Elite V2 is by Rebellion, and was released a few weeks ago.

I'd carefully check the credits. Many games are spread out all over, so depending on what you're trying to accomplish it may not be easy.

All the console LEGO video games are made by Traveler's Tales, which is British, and are very well reviewed and good for all ages. The latest ones are LEGO Harry Potter (Years 5-7) and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean. They're also pretty cheap, like $20 in the US.
