How to use Google+ using OAuth in Android?

Using Google Talk Android App through Web Browser on PC

  • Is there a way to use the Google Talk Android App via a web browser on my PC? Is there a way to use the Google Talk Android App via a web browser on my PC? Similar to how https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid&hl=en works with text messages. You can navigate to a site on your browser that is hosted by AirDroid and send texts via the browser through your phone's connection. I want to be able to do the same thing with Google Talk (i.e. sending gchat messages through an interface in the browser which actually uses my phone's internet connection to work). I realize that I could download the gchat client, etc. or use the interface that's in Gmail, but I am specifically interested in using my phone's 4g connection and my browser's interface to send google talk messages. Is there an app available which will allow me to do this?

  • Answer:

I know what you're talking about here (at least I think), and it sounds like they just shut it down in the last http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2012/04/spring-cleaning-in-spring.html: "We’re shutting down the mobile web app for Google Talk. For mobile users who want to continue using Google Talk, we recommend using the native Google Talk app on Android or any XMPP-compliant apps on other mobile platforms." But with AirDroid, you've got to be on a Wi-Fi network, so you're not using your 4G at that point, and any SMSes go out as normal (unless you are using your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot, then yes, you are using your 4G), unless they've changed that recently?

You can kind of fake it using https://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/ to manipulate your phone with your mouse and keyboard. This is fairly slow and ugly but technically does what you want.

Thanks, LogicalDash! That looks like it might work. It's kind of a hacky solution, as you said, but it would work unless there is something slicker out there that I'm not aware of. deezil, thanks for the information. That's a bummer that they shut down the mobile app.
